Giftora sells gift cards through one product in your store. Each value you offer, for example $25, $50 and $100, is a variant of that product.
Create the product
- In Giftora, go to Products & values. You can also select Create product in the Dashboard checklist.
- Enter a Product title, for example "Gift card".
- Add your values. You can add up to 20 values.
- Select Create product.
Customers pay the value and receive a card for the same value.
How it works
- Giftora creates the product as a draft, so customers don't see it until you're ready.
- Each value is a variant with shipping and tax turned off.
- Giftora adds a default product image. You can change it later.
Edit your values
In Products & values → Values you can add, change or remove values.
- Values must be greater than 0 and follow your store currency. For example, currencies without cents need whole numbers.
- Each value can appear only once.
- Changing or removing a value doesn't change cards that were already sold.
Make the product available
When you're ready to sell, select Make available. Giftora sets the product to Active and adds it to your Online Store.
Giftora asks you to turn on gift card payment blocking first, so customers can't use a gift card to buy a gift card. Turn on payment blocking
Test store only. If you want to try the product before payment blocking is on, Giftora lets you make it available for testing. Use this only on a test store.
If Giftora asks for permission to publish products, select Grant access, then select Make available again.
Add product images
In Product images you can add up to 10 images.
- Square images work best. We recommend 2048 × 2048 px, PNG or JPEG, up to 2 MB each.
- The first image is the featured image. Images show in Shopify in the order you add them.
- Images smaller than 800 × 800 px may look blurry when zoomed.
If someone adds, removes or reorders images in Shopify, Giftora shows a warning. You can restore your Giftora images or keep the Shopify ones. To restore them automatically, turn on Keep the images you set in Giftora in Settings → Product protection.
To change the title or description, select Edit in Shopify.
Keep shipping and tax off
Gift cards are digital, so Giftora turns off shipping and tax for every value. If they get turned on again in Shopify, Giftora turns them off automatically and tells you on the Products & values page.
If you mail printed cards, or you must charge tax on gift cards where you sell, turn off Fix shipping and tax automatically in Settings → Product protection.
Giftora only changes the Taxable setting on each value. Tax overrides and tax apps can still apply tax.
